The General Director of the Russian esports organisation BetBoom Team, Alexander “Dyrem” Sevirinov, expressed his views on the team’s coach, Anatoliy “Boolk” Ivanov.
Sevirinov noted that Ivanov is an exceptionally dedicated professional, devoting all his time to Dota 2. He found it difficult to understand the reasons behind the criticism directed at the coach. He explained that every draft has its rationale, supported by thorough analysis of the opponent, the current patch, and the team’s hero pool. Sevirinov likened the drafting process to constructing combinations from an immense set of possibilities, emphasising that Ivanov strives to assemble the best option based on mathematical probability. According to Sevirinov, any draft can be translated into numerical values, and Ivanov’s approach involves calculating which choices would likely perform better or taking calculated risks based on strategic actions.
Sevirinov defended Ivanov from critics, acknowledging that mistakes occur but are unavoidable in the competitive sphere. He emphasised that if overall team results were unsatisfactory, the responsibility ultimately lay with him as the director, indicating a readiness to take the blame and shield the players and coach from unwarranted criticism.
Earlier, Ivanov himself commented on the changes in team communication following roster adjustments. He indicated that the atmosphere within the team had improved, with fewer conflicting opinions making gameplay smoother. Ivanov acknowledged that disagreements had occurred in the past, with different team members, including himself, occasionally dominating discussions. However, the new roster, composed of players with different temperaments, had facilitated a more harmonious environment. He also noted that while there had been intense discussions after lost matches, they had never escalated to personal insults, remaining focused on gameplay analysis even when discussions became heated.
