Dota 2 fixed a bug with Hand of Midas and Techies

On the evening of 29 August, the Dota 2 developers released a minor update to fix a bug involving the Hand of Midas artifact and the hero Techies. The vulnerability allowed the hero to reset the item's cooldown by removing it from their inventory.

This Hand of Midas bug was discovered on the morning of 29 August. Exploiting it with Techies proved to be easier than with other heroes, resulting in the hero's win rate spiking by 8%, propelling Techies into the top 3 best heroes. Players began to complain en masse about those abusing the bug and called on Valve to take action against them.

The critical bug allowing rapid cooldown reset of Hand of Midas was first identified on 26 August. Despite Valve releasing several patches intended to fix the issue, players repeatedly found new ways to quickly reset the item's timer. As of the publication of this material, there are no new reports on additional ways to exploit the Hand of Midas.
