Commentator Darya "Eiritel" Morozova shared her thoughts on the mass withdrawal of teams from the Super Dimensional Vision Snow Ruyi and FISSURE & ESB Elite League 2024 Season 2 in Dota 2. She was displeased that tier-1 teams pulled out of the tournaments at the last minute, despite knowing the schedules when they accepted the invitations.
"I think everyone has seen the countless team replacements for the Elite League and the Chinese tournament, which are supposed to start any day now. What about the organizers? Maybe they aren't experienced enough to avoid scheduling around the year's major tournaments. And they certainly aren't influential enough to prevent last-minute withdrawals.
Did half the tier-1 teams just learn about their tournament schedules yesterday? The operator invested in the event and promoted it to sponsors as a great opportunity to fund Dota, and instead of Tundra and Gaimin Gladiators, teams like 'Bear Builds Temple' and 'Shava on a Plate' will be playing. Because the former realized they didn't feel like flying to Peru or China, dealing with jet lag, and playing Dota there. How can you build and develop the industry when everyone is only thinking about themselves?"
On July 23, three teams withdrew from the Elite League 2024 Season 2, which will run from July 25 to August 8 in the capital of Peru. Gaimin Gladiators explained their decision as fatigue following their victory at Riyadh Masters 2024. Tundra Esports and PSG Quest withdrew without giving reasons. All three clubs were replaced by unknown teams from South America.
The Super Dimensional Vision Snow Ruyi will take place from July 28 to August 4, 2024, in the Winter Olympic Village in China. Team Secret and nouns withdrew from the tournament, leading the organizers to simply reduce the number of participants. Some teams will also attend the tournament with substitutes.
