Content creator Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov, during his personal stream on Twitch, explained to viewers why professional players frequently take breaks.
He noted that esports is a highly mentally demanding activity. In any profession, your impact is influenced by your mood, mental state, and motivation. However, while being in a semi-depressive state might be uncomfortable for someone like an accountant, it may not significantly affect their work. In contrast, in a team-based competitive environment, particularly in esports where there’s constant interaction between teammates, an unstable mental state severely hinders performance. He added that players often take breaks not because they are physically tired from playing but due to being mentally drained, experiencing emotional instability, and consequently, performing poorly.
According to Kuznetsov, many players took breaks after this season, and he views this as a natural aspect of esports.
Earlier on his Twitch stream, Kuznetsov also mentioned that he plans to host the "Starperhub" segment during the upcoming BetBoom Dacha Dota 2 2024 event. He shared that they are aiming to film on location, potentially even from the stadium itself, which he finds exciting as it offers a new format they haven't tried before.
