Heroic has become the first team from South America to qualify for The International 2024 (TI13), achieving this milestone without dropping a single game. Remarkably, Heroic is also the first team from any region to accomplish this feat. While several Heroic players are veterans, making their fifth appearance at Dota 2’s premier tournament, this marks the organization's debut at The International, set for September in Denmark.
Heroic entered the Dota 2 competitive scene earlier this year by signing a cohesive group of players aiming to make an impact in the South American (SA) region.
“The team was built on the premise that synergy among the players was paramount, rather than relying on star power to produce instant results,” Cedric "Davai Lama" Deckmyn shared with us during Heroic's qualification for their first tournament. “In Dota 2, having a roster of superstars often comes with clashing egos. We don’t have that issue; our focus is on working hard together to become the best as a unit,” he added.
In the following months, Heroic dominated the upper bracket of the South American qualifiers for Dota 2's most prestigious event. With a flawless 6-0 record, they realized their dream, marking the second time they have outperformed their regional rivals. Prior to the TI13 qualifiers, Heroic also went undefeated at the Riyadh Masters 2024 with another 6-0 sweep, further cementing their presence in the global Esports scene.
This year, South America has two slots available in the TI qualifiers. The battle for the second slot is heating up, with three teams still in contention in the lower bracket rounds. Beastcoast is already positioned in the lower bracket finals, awaiting the winner of the Cuyes Esports vs. BOOM Esports matchup. By the end of today, South America will have its second representative for The International 2024 in Copenhagen.
