Team Spirit manager Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov reflected on the possibility of his team winning a third championship at The International in Dota 2. He emphasized that achieving such a feat would be extremely challenging.
"I don’t know," said Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov. "Firstly, that decision will be up to the players. Secondly, they still have to win it. Winning a third International isn’t as easy as kicking off your shoes or popping open a beer. I’m not going to play Nostradamus here, so I really have no idea. I can’t say what Team Spirit will do if they ever win a third The International. It’s hard to predict."
"Winning three times at such a tournament is incredibly difficult. If it were that simple, we’d already have three-time TI winners. Even imagining winning three Internationals in a row, you’d have to play with the same roster for three years, which is an achievement in itself. At most, you could make one substitution because if you change two or three players, the notion of being three-time champions gets diluted. It would remain significant for the organization but not for the players," explained Dmitry.
Team Spirit is the reigning two-time International champion, having won the tournament in 2021 and 2023, matching OG's record. Belov’s team also received a direct invitation to The International 2024, where they will defend their title.
The International 2024 is scheduled to take place from September 4 to 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The prize pool for the world championship will be announced at a later date.
