Earlier this week, LGD Gaming made headlines in China when Dota Lin Official, a Chinese YouTube channel, released a video titled "Is LGD Facing Bankruptcy?" This video compiled clips from various streams featuring former LGD Gaming players discussing the organization's financial difficulties over the past few years.
Former players Wang "Ame" Chunyu, Yang "Chalice" Sheny, and Lin "planet" Hao spoke out about unpaid salaries and bonuses dating back to The International 2021. Meanwhile, current LGD players Li "niu" Kongbo and Zhang "y`" Yiping changed their nicknames to "vagabond" and "homeless," reflecting their uncertain situation.
Furthermore, the video included a speech by LGD's General Manager, Pan Fei, at a TEDx Talk. In his speech, he outlined the operational costs for the Dota 2 team, highlighting the increased expenses on salaries during and after the pandemic, along with the loss of significant sponsors.
