Lil on Odium: "The guys played and then left and formed a team without me"

Ukrainian esports player Ilya "Lil" Ilyuk recalled how he created his own team, Odium, in Dota 2. He doesn't want to form new rosters because his previous attempt was unsuccessful.

"I had a contract with NAVI, I couldn't play in any team, plus I had no offers. So I created my own. The guys played and then left and formed a team without me.

It was pretty funny, you know why? I don't mind that they formed a team. The problem is that I found sponsors who gave us conditions that not every tier-2 team could afford. I sent everyone their salary, and the guys just left a few days later. And Ghostik even asked for an advance. It was funny. [He says]: 'I need an advance, I have money problems.' [I ask]: 'You're not going to leave, are you?' He replies: 'No, are you kidding?' And a few days later: 'No, we can't play anymore.' After such an experience, would you try to form something again?

Seriously, forming a team and the whole idea around gathering people who believe in you. Or you have some foundation. You have a friend with whom you're building a team," Lil shared.

Earlier, Ilyuk admitted that he was offered to engage in match-fixing. He wants to return to the professional scene, but currently calls his prospects "uncertain."
