Maelstorm on TI13: «I Expected More Invites. Valve Couldn't Decide Who to Invite»

Commentator Vladimir «Maelstorm» Kuzminov evaluated the list of invited teams for The International 2024 in Dota 2, expressing his expectation that Valve would issue more direct invites to the tournament.

«I expected more invites. I thought each region would have one team qualifying through the regional qualifiers. Valve couldn't decide who to invite. You might say that the invitation distribution to the qualifiers was unfair. But it ended up being fairly balanced because China only got one team, and America and Southeast Asia didn't get any direct slots at all. Let's be honest, who from Eastern Europe would you invite directly? No one! We can't invite NAVI, Virtus.pro, 1win, or L1GA Team, who failed in all the tournaments they participated in. So, it ended up being two slots for other regions and one for ours», — Vladimir «Maelstorm» Kuzminov.

On the night of May 28, Valve announced the list of teams with direct invites to The International 2024. From Eastern Europe, Team Spirit and BetBoom Team received invites. The full list of participants can be found on our website.

The International 2024 will take place from September 4 to 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The prize pool for the world championship will be announced later. Qualifiers for the event will begin on June 3.
