Beastcoast support player Most ‘Matthew’ Farita Jeafehe Uamankaha spoke about the tournament in Peru, the team's preparation, their main rivals, and the local audience in an interview featured on the official Spanish-language broadcast of Elite League Season 2.
Regarding the LAN tournament in Peru, Matthew expressed his excitement, noting that he had spent nearly a year in Arab countries with MENA Nigma Galaxy and was eager to return to the warmth of South America, his home region. He reflected positively on The Lima Major 2023, which provided valuable experience, and he anticipated that this tournament would also be fulfilling.
On the team’s preparation, he mentioned that BOOM Esports, a new Peruvian lineup, had come together before the qualifiers for The International. Although they did not advance through the qualifiers, they spent nearly 12 days preparing in Brazil. They were based in Fortaleza, playing scrims with European teams and learning about their map strategies, as European teams are often up-to-date with current meta trends.
When discussing the Peruvian audience, Matthew had high praise, stating that the enthusiasm and passion of the local fans were widely acknowledged and celebrated. He noted that the audience's warmth and support were highlighted as one of the tournament's standout features.
Regarding the tournament’s key opponents and favourites, Matthew expressed a desire to compete against Tundra Esports, although he regretted their absence. He identified Team Liquid as the top favourite and mentioned HEROIC as another strong contender. He highlighted HEROIC well-structured gameplay and their ability to quickly overcome opponents, which he believed gave them a chance to challenge Team Liquid.
Unfortunately, HEROIC did not advance to the group stage of Elite League Season 2. Peru's BOOM Esports ended the first day of the group stage with a 1-1 series record.
