Valve has made significant changes to Dota 2 in recent updates, specifically concerning the character Meepo.
Meepo Temporarily Removed from Dota 2
On July 2, Valve released a mini-patch for Dota 2, making a notable change: developers temporarily removed Meepo from the active pool and banned him from matches. This decision was likely related to several bugs that players had discovered in recent days. One such bug allowed players to earn 10,000 gold when combined with Naga Siren after transferring the Chainmail item. Additionally, a bug with Divine Rapier on Meepo was fixed on July 2. The Pack Rat aspect was malfunctioning, allowing players to place expensive items in the neutral item slot.
Meepo Returns to Dota 2
Just a day later, on July 3, Valve released another small update, making Meepo available again. The hero had been temporarily blocked due to critical bugs that significantly impacted his win rate in ranked mode, with his win rate in public games reaching 55%. The community had mixed reactions to Meepo's removal and subsequent return. Russian statistician Ilya "Leamare" Silakov humorously commented on the situation, saying, "If I fall asleep and wake up a thousand years later, and they ask me, 'How's ranked Dota 2?', I would say, 'As usual, another bug exploit involving money and Meepo.' "
On the evening of July 2, 2024, Valve addressed the bug related to Meepo's Pack Rat aspect, which had allowed the character to place regular artifacts in the neutral item slot, preventing players from losing Divine Rapier upon death.
In other updates, Valve announced the release date for the third act of the "Fallen Crown" event, humorously setting the date as "June 39," promising to release it by the end of the month.
