Shopify Rebellion added a TI winner to their roster as the most important qualifiers of the year approach. Only two days after parting ways with Jonáš «SabeRLight-» Volek, Shopify Rebellion welcomed Ivan «MinD_ContRoL» Ivanov to offlane and completed their roster. The TI7 champion heads to North America, leaving behind the drama stirred by his exit from Tundra Esports earlier this year.
Interestingly enough, upon his departure from Shopify, SabeRLight cited reasons quite similar to those MC highlighted when he exited Tundra. Besides a lack of chemistry with «a key member of the team», SabeRLight felt that his ideas and opinions «were met with backlash and ultimately caused more harm than good.» At the end of February, MC was removed from Tundra Esports during DreamLeague Season 22 following internal conflicts between him and the rest of the team. Despite apologizing to all players and Tundra’s management afterwards, MC was never reinstated in the team.
Since then, Tundra struggled to find a stable offlaner and played multiple tournaments with various stand-ins. Most recently, the team had to forfeit their spot at PGL Wallachia.
At the same time, Shopify Rebellion tweaked their roster a couple of times already this year, trying to find the right formula. So far, no roster change has brought the results they were looking for, and the NA outfit is bound to regional qualifiers for the biggest two tournaments of the year, The International 2024, and Riyadh Masters Dota 2 World Cup.
TI13 direct invites and regional qualifier dates and slots were revealed last night by Valve. Shopify Rebellion has less than two weeks to integrate MC into their team and get ready for the NA regional battle for a spot at this year’s TI. The NA closed regional qualifiers are set to commence on June 9 while the Riyadh Masters closed qualifiers begin even earlier, on May 31.
