Streamer Alexander "Nix" Levin reflected on the current state of Dota 2, criticizing the MOBA and Valve for infrequent content updates.
"Let's be honest: playing Dota now means not being very demanding of yourself because the game is complete garbage. It's just curious to me, do you notice that Dota, firstly, isn't fun to play, and secondly, it's boring to watch? Developers have completely given up on the game, and there are even more tournaments now.
To give you an idea, the patch hasn't changed since The International, since October. And I wouldn't even call what came out afterward a patch, they literally just fixed +2, -2. People have been playing for seven months with the same heroes. We see the same thing: Timbersaw, Razor, Timbersaw, Razor... The same people keep winning.
Last year, the developers didn't care much about Dota either, but not to this extent. For example, they nerfed Pangolier, Broodmother, and Lina after Gladiators won The Lima Major 2023. They nerfed heroes who were winning tournaments, but now they're too lazy to even do that. They just do nothing.
Crownfall was created a year ago, they just released it now. People who were at The International in October in Seattle said that Valve had already shown it. It wasn't the developers who made it for you, it was already ready long ago, they just released it so no one would complain. They're not doing anything. The game isn't getting patched at all." - Alexander "Nix" Levin
Levin also advised viewers to watch other disciplines. He cited League of Legends as an example and praised Riot Games for the scale of their tournaments.
"If you have the opportunity to watch other esports disciplines, it's amazing, there are stadiums. I accidentally opened a match between Gen.G and T1 in LoL. To give you an idea, it was a local Korean DPC league, hypothetically, BetBoom Team and Spirit were playing to qualify for the major. The stadium was cooler than at The International. Completely packed. Just a huge circular stage, some videos, and dragons flying.
DPC guys are playing, it's not even the World Championship final, but there were 500k viewers online. They release content there, a patch comes out every two weeks. The World Championship ended, and they immediately added a new hero. They really care about the game there, here, no one cares about the game at all. That's why Dota 2 is garbage for losers who don't want better in their lives. <...>
I don't rule out that something will change in the future. In its current state, Dota is unplayable and unwatchable. The game is slowly dying. People who have been following it for a long time notice this." - Alexander "Nix" Levin
Previously, Levin discussed the lack of offlaners in the Dota 2 pro scene, noting that the role is highly demanded but lacks players.
