Streamer Alexander "Nix" Levin pondered about his personal motivation to continue dedicating time to Dota 2. He doesn't rule out the possibility that over time, the game might become tiresome for him, and he might switch to something else.
"I feel like I might leave Dota 2 for good soon. I don't know when it will happen. Maybe 2024 will be the last year. Maybe not. But such thoughts have started creeping in. It all starts with not being able to play. I still somewhat enjoy watching Dota matches. But if that fades away too, then it's like there won't be any reason to play anymore.
[Nobody will watch you] Do you think I don't understand? Honestly, I don't care. I think Papich understood it perfectly too. But it's even worse to be a hostage to something you hate. But few will understand that. I've always done it for the thrill, that's where the happiness lies. I'm not comparing myself to Papich—I never wanted to be like him. That's the first thing that comes to mind from those who left Dota. There's also ALOHADANCE, but now he's returning to a game he hates. As if it's the worst thing that could happen.
If watching Dota annoys me, then casting matches will be bad too. I take my job very seriously. Maybe this is a temporary feeling. I had a similar one a year ago, but after the release of the match with Parry Portals, the desire to play and watch Dota immediately returned." - Alexander "Nix" Levin
Earlier, Nix explained why he doesn't spend time in Dota's ranked matchmaking. You can read about it here.
Nix covers matches of the Elite League 2024 on his personal Twitch channel. The online championship with a prize pool of $960,000 runs from March 31 to April 14.
