PGL Wallachia Season 2 is likely to be the first big event following TI

PGL Wallachia Season 2 has been scheduled for two weeks after The International, becoming a likely proving ground for new and adjusted rosters. Three months ago, PGL announced a three-year DOTA 2 Tournament Marathon with at least eight events boasting $1 million prize pools between 2024 and 2026.

The first was PGL Wallachia Season 1, which was held at their studios in Bucharest, Romania, from May 10 to 16 with no live audience. The sixteen-team event kicked off with a modified «Swiss System» group stage before heading to the playoffs, where Team Spirit claimed their first title of the year.

Typically, post-TI teams are busy in what has come to be known as «silly season», as rosters are shuffled around and new stacks are formed for the season. It is usually marked with a long holiday for the champions and playoff teams and a break in competitive play.

However, it seems that PGL is looking to get the next season rolling immediately. This will be interesting, too, since the qualifiers are set to take place in August before the rosters are all mixed up. Six teams (presumably one per region) will join ten invited ones.

The event is set to occur from October 1-13, 2024, with a $1,000,000 prize pool.
