Professional Dota 2 player Vladimir RodjER Nikoghosyan shared his insights on improving MMR while playing the five position during a recent livestream, as reported by the LEGENDWP DOTA 2 channel on Telegram.
In response to a chat message asking for a tutorial on raising MMR while playing as a five, he advised focusing on strong heroes and maintaining a positive mindset despite inevitable losing streaks and disruptive teammates. He emphasised the importance of consistently aiming for improvement, studying high-ranked player replays, and adopting techniques used by professional players, suggesting that this approach would be effective.
Previously, RodjER reflected on his potential return to the competitive Dota 2 scene, stating that he could currently only join tier-2 or tier-3 teams, which he was not keen on pursuing. He mentioned that he would need to engage in matchmaking extensively to gain entry into top teams, a commitment he was reluctant to make.
When asked about plans for the upcoming season, he indicated he did not intend to participate, preferring to focus on streaming instead. He noted that after attending a major event, he realised he enjoyed playing casually rather than competitively. RodjER expressed his lack of interest in joining tier-2 or tier-3 teams, stating that tier-1 teams would not consider him. He conveyed his disinterest in grinding MMR to exceptionally high levels, as some players do, finding that effort to be excessive.
For now, he plans to continue streaming and will see how things develop, remaining open to the possibility of putting in the effort needed to join a team if circumstances change.
