Western European team Team Liquid, representing Sweden, concluded their run at ESL One Bangkok 2024 with a second-place finish. Led by Czech player Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek, the team battled to the grand final through the lower bracket despite challenges during the group stage. Liquid began the playoffs after a tough fight, securing the final qualifying spot in their group with one win, two draws, and two losses. Nevertheless, they managed to defeat all their opponents in the elimination stage before falling to PARIVISION in the final with a score of 1:3.
SabeRLight- shared his thoughts on the team’s performance on his X page:
"From nearly being eliminated in groups to second place — it’s not the worst result, but we’ll definitely win the next one!"
He also highlighted Team Liquid’s strengths during an interview at the tournament, attributing their success to solid structure and a healthy team culture:
"The difference between Team Liquid and other teams is that we have a really good structure, as it should be. In Liquid, people aren’t afraid to voice their opinions, make mistakes, and learn from them. It’s a very healthy approach."
However, not everyone was satisfied with the Czech player’s performance. Belarusian esports player Kirill "Sunlight" Kachinsky criticised SabeRLight-'s in-game decisions on his Telegram channel, calling them "incomprehensible."
