Supports are bad players

During a personal stream, commentator Austin ‘Capitalist’ Walsh shared his views on players who exclusively play support roles in Dota 2.

Walsh expressed his belief that players with an MMR below 6-7k, and possibly even up to 8-10k, who only play support roles are likely performing below their actual rating. He suggested that these players may be underperforming compared to others with a similar rating. Walsh, who is known for his commentary and collaboration with Blitz, stated that he thinks players who limit themselves to support roles are weaker than their rating suggests. He added that if someone is unwilling or unable to play core roles, it may indicate a lack of skill.

He clarified that his position is support, but he is capable of playing core roles as well. He mentioned that he can adapt to mid or carry roles if needed, as he has heroes for those positions. He noted that each patch has its meta and that flexibility is important. However, he pointed out that the reverse, where core players cannot play support roles, is not as common.

Previously, Walsh had mentioned that Valve no longer plans to organise The International series of tournaments and has transferred all responsibilities to PGL.
