SVG about ATF

American caster and former professional player Avery "SVG" Silverman commented on the conflict between Akbar "SoNNeikO" Butaev and Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf, discussing the dynamics of trash-talking in the gaming community.

"If you’re one of those guys who has been trash-talking everyone in pubs for years, saying complete nonsense, at some point, you’re going to run into the wrong person, you know? That doesn’t mean you did something wrong; it’s just a lottery. [You might be doing something wrong, but you don’t deserve physical harm.] Exactly. But that doesn’t justify someone coming and causing you physical harm. You can’t control everyone in the game. You’re playing a lottery with a low chance of winning, and eventually, it could end up with someone hitting you in the head.

And it wouldn’t be so bad if ATF had said something about someone, and that person approached him and threatened him, and he was like, ‘This guy is threatening me. Damn, I need help, I need protection. I’m sorry for upsetting this person.’ That could have been a possible resolution. But honestly, it didn’t look that way to me. It seemed like he was provoking someone, that person got genuinely angry, threatened him with retribution or physical violence, or something else. I don’t know exactly what happened; only those who were there know. Then ATF makes a statement, in the end, again addressing that person. I’m surprised no one is talking about this.

If I felt threatened by someone potentially harming me, would my reaction be to go on Twitter and make him even angrier? Do the same thing as last time? If that guy really threatened you, why would you provoke him even more? That’s the dumbest thing you could do. And if you’re not in any danger, then you continue with the trash talk, right? He’s like a dog behind a fence that barks loudly, but when you open the gate, he calms down.

There should be no violence. ATF’s behavior doesn’t justify physical violence or threats. But if everything is as stated, then why does he go on Twitter and immediately start provoking that person again? It seems he has no remorse, no common sense. Or maybe what Team Falcons stated is not true because he wasn’t afraid of that guy. It’s all very absurd."
