The first day of ESL One Bangkok 2024 delivered thrilling matches and gave teams the chance to assess their strength against their opponents. Among the most notable encounters were those involving Team Spirit and Team Falcons, setting an exciting tone for the tournament.
Larl on Team Spirit’s Performance: "Individual mistakes made the difference".
Team Spirit mid-laner Denis "Larl" Sigitov reflected on his team’s performance during the opening matches. According to him, their loss to Falcons was the result of individual errors and superior teamwork from their opponents:
"The first series against Falcons featured good drafts, but they were stronger in team fights and movement around the map. Our individual execution let us down.
In the second series [against NAVI], things were easier in terms of both drafting and gameplay. It’s clear that NAVI is slightly weaker, both as a team and in individual skill. So, it was quite an easy match for us."
Team Spirit began their campaign with a loss to Falcons but secured a victory against NAVI, boosting their chances for further success in the tournament.
ATF on Falcons’ Victory: "Teams that give me Bristleback will be punished".
Team Falcons off-laner Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf shared his thoughts on their win over Team Spirit. He emphasised the effectiveness of his Bristleback pick and the team’s strong start:
"It was a good series and a very positive start. If you pick Medusa, regardless of whether you’re playing against Doom or not, you’re going to lose.
In the first game, I never felt that my Bristleback was countered. Teams that allow me to play this hero will be punished."
ESL One Bangkok 2024, running from 9 to 15 December in Thailand, has gathered some of the best players from around the world. The $1 million prize pool will be divided among 12 teams, each showcasing unique playstyles and a determination to win.
With Team Falcons and Team Spirit setting a high standard for competitive matches, fans eagerly await the next chapter of this riveting tournament.
