The International 2024, the premier annual tournament in competitive Dota 2 and the thirteenth in the series, will be held by the game's publisher, Valve, from 4 to 15 September 2024.
This year, The International 13 will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, with the main stage hosted at the Royal Arena. Notably, only the final stage for the top 8 teams will be played in a LAN format, while the earlier stages will be conducted online as part of the “Road to The International.”
A total of 16 top teams from around the world will participate, with some receiving direct invitations and others advancing through qualifiers. The direct invites have been awarded to the top 6 teams from the season: Team Spirit, Xtreme Gaming, Team Falcons, Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators, and BetBoom Team.
The qualifiers are divided into two phases: open and closed. The open qualifiers are open to all, while the closed qualifiers feature the winners from the open qualifiers along with invited teams, ranging from 3 to 10 depending on the region. Notably, for The International 2024, Valve has not designated MENA as a separate region, and the slot distribution from the qualifiers is as follows:
- Western Europe: 2 slots
- Eastern Europe: 1 slot
- China: 2 slots
- Southeast Asia: 2 slots
- North America: 1 slot
- South America: 2 slots
