The Dota 2 esports scene continues to delight fans with unexpected comebacks, personal milestones, and unconventional gameplay scenarios. Against the backdrop of ESL One Bangkok 2024, these events have captured significant attention.
N0tail’s Return
Johan "N0tail" Sundstein, the legendary former captain of OG, played his first Dota 2 matches in two years after stepping away from the professional scene. Over the past week, the Danish player took part in five games, including two in Turbo mode, securing two wins and suffering three losses.
In one match, N0tail encountered changes he was unaware of: "I can’t disassemble? Oh, new Dota, bloody hell," he joked while trying to disassemble Arcane Boots at the secret shop. Developers removed the ability to disassemble this item in Patch 7.35, released in January 2023.
Sneyking’s Record-Breaking Enchantress Streak
Jingjun "Sneyking" Wu of Team Falcons continues his phenomenal winning streak with Enchantress. His run began on 10 November with a victory over Spirit at DreamLeague 24 and has now reached an impressive 24 games after winning the first map against BetBoom Team at ESL One Bangkok 2024.
Sneyking has already entered the top three for most consecutive wins on a single hero, equalling Goblak’s record with Keeper of the Light. The leader in this category is Quinn "Quinn" Callahan, who achieved 29 consecutive wins with Void Spirit.
A Unique Mid-Lane Duel Featuring Team Spirit
The match between Team Spirit and Shopify Rebellion in Group A of ESL One Bangkok 2024 featured an unusual 1v1 mid-lane duel. Alan "Satanic" Gallyamov, playing Shadow Fiend, triumphed over Erin "Yopaj" Jasper Ferrer.
Gallyamov explained why the game lasted longer than expected:
"The game could have ended in 15 minutes, but I chose the wrong aspect. If I had picked the correct one, it would have finished sooner. Against Nightfall, we agreed on special rules: no runes, no Blood Grenade, only Enchanted Mangoes. It’s truly high skill."
This victory secured Team Spirit third place in the group, leaving Shopify Rebellion in fourth.
