Former esports player Peter 'ppd' Dager shared his thoughts on The International tournaments in anticipation of TI3. His comments were published on Metaratings.ru.
Dager expressed that he expects this year's event to be smaller in scale compared to traditional TI events, especially outside Seattle. He suggested that this year’s tournament might resemble the major events seen in previous years. However, he remains hopeful that PGL will introduce some unique features to make the event special.
He also noted that the grandeur of TI has declined since 2017, particularly after the event moved from Seattle. While it is disappointing that TI has lost some of its former appeal, he believes it might not be so bad if Valve steps back from continuing the tradition.
The International 2024 will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, from September 4 to 15. The championship will feature 16 teams, with a base prize pool exceeding $2.1 million, which continues to grow through the sale of the compendium and its levels.
