Streamer Timur "TraVoMaN" Khafizov discussed the cancellation of DPC. In an interview with eScoreNews, he said the new schedule with multiple tournaments better suits the professional Dota 2 scene.
"I think, in the long run, it's a plus. When they removed DPC, many TOs came with new tournaments, and we saw there was money. Now, competition will force them to hold major tournaments every three months for $5 million. The ecosystem is gradually leveling out: there will be 3-4 truly major tournaments a year, and everything else will be minor and passing," Khafizov explained.
"Obviously, this will bring much more money into the industry. Even the first year already did, but it's spread throughout the period. Later, more money will be added, creating this thin layer of a million dollars and some peaks of $3-5 million. For the scene, it's a plus, in my opinion. The more money, the more interest, and the higher the competition," Khafizov expressed.
Valve canceled the Dota Pro Circuit system in September 2023. Now, events in the discipline are held by third-party TOs, including FISSURE, ESL, and PGL. Based on the championship results, developers distributed direct invites to The International 2024.
Khafizov spoke with our correspondent at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 by FISSURE. In the conversation, TraVoMaN also talked about participating in the BetBoom Streamers Battle, playing poker, and much more.
