PGL Wallachia is down to its final two days, and the teams battling for a place in the grand final have been determined. Xtreme Gaming will face the team of the season so far, Team Falcons, in the upper bracket final.
Both Xtreme Gaming and Falcons qualified through the Swiss group stage with flawless 3-0 records. In the upper bracket semifinals, XG defeated TI12 winners Team Spirit 2-0, while Falcons sent Team Liquid to the lower bracket with a 2-1 victory.
Xtreme Gaming vs. Team Spirit
Xtreme Gaming entered their series against Team Spirit without dropping a single game, and they maintained that record with a comfortable 2-0 win. Both games had similar scores and durations, with the first ending 33-16 in favor of XG, and the second 33-17.
XG, who won the Elite League by defeating the Falcons in the grand final, had a disappointing performance at ESL One Birmingham. However, they have bounced back and seem to be in excellent form.
Team Falcons vs. Team Liquid
Team Falcons eliminated Team Liquid from ESL One Birmingham and defeated them in the grand final of BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024. This match was an opportunity for Liquid to seek revenge, especially with Falcons playing with Leon “Nine” Krilin as a stand-in for Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak.
Revenge seemed possible after game one when Liquid played exceptionally well to win a game that was evenly matched for about 35 minutes. However, the Falcons stepped up their game in matches 2 and 3, leaving Liquid no chance to finally secure a win over them.
The mid-matchups in games 1 and 3 were identical – Michał “Nisha” Jankovsi on Sniper and Nine on Earth Spirit. In game 1, Nisha outperformed Nine in lane, leading to a stellar early and mid-game. But in game 3, Nine secured First Blood on Nisha, shifting the dynamics of the lane and the game. Many viewers forget that Nine is a TI-winning mid-player due to his current absence from a team and his last TI appearance in the position 4 role for the old Tundra Esports roster. Even with a stand-in, the Falcons are proving to be the team to beat.
The Perfect Upper Bracket Final
Xtreme Gaming taking on Falcons is the ideal upper bracket final for PGL Wallachia. If there’s one team capable of grounding the Falcons, it’s Xtreme Gaming. For the Falcons to win, they will need to break the Chinese team’s impressive 10-0 record in the tournament. Either way, it promises to be an intense contest.
