10 Map Nuances in Dota You Didn't Know
Even after a year with the expanded map from 7.33, Dota’s map is still not fully explored. New ward spots and fighting positions appear from match to match, and in a regular public game, people often get confused: Can you jump here, place an obs, or even pass through?
In this post, we’ve gathered 10 map nuances that are worth remembering. They will definitely come in handy in your next game!
№1 As Radiant, you can safely check the bottom rune without interrupting your farm:Stand slightly to the right of the white dot near the camp, closer to the protruding boulder.
№2 The portal in the Radiant’s safe lane works even from low ground:Stand slightly left of the center and fly! If you send your hero directly to the portal, they will take the "proper" long route, so use the "move towards" command.
№3 At night, you won’t see a hero on the other side of the portal:Exceptions are heroes with increased night vision. For example, Slark, Luna with upgraded passive, or Vampire Fangs in inventory. Night Stalker, by the way, won’t spot the enemy near the pond during the day.
№4 There are two trees growing right into the cliff at the top Roshpit:The peculiarity of these trees is that heroes speared by Mars do not fly out of the pit, and MK, casting his ultimate from the top tree, falls right on the enemies' faces. With Treant’s Aghanim, you’ll get an excellent view!
№5 The base walls provide slight vision, but Radiant has a passage at the edge of the map—behind a tree, the hero remains in the fog of war.Jumping in from there with Blink is fantastic, as you can reach up to the tier-3 tower.
№6 Dire has a similar spot—from this cliff, the enemy can jump onto the enemy base with Blink or Force Staff. However, you can only reach the hill with Blink or by cutting a tree. Plus, you are easily discovered if the enemy simply climbs the stairs.
№7 If you have a vision in the main Dire jungle, you can capture the Watcher from the low ground:The main advantage is that the enemy ward on the hill above won’t spot you.
№8 Similarly, in Radiant's secondary jungle:Capture the Watcher behind the tree, and the obs on the high ground won’t reach you.
№9 Near the top lotus pool, there is a nook among the trees:It’s easy to catch someone gathering lotuses!
№10 In the new zones, wards can be hidden conveniently:For the sake of the experiment, I used a large ward—standard obs wards are even harder to notice.
