33 — “We Couldn’t Play Our Best’”

Reflecting on their loss to Falcons in the lower bracket quarterfinals of ESL One Birmingham, Team Liquid captain Neta “33” Shapira offered insights into their tournament exit and performance, admitting that Falcons "were the better team" on the day, but expressing disappointment in ESL's management.

Team Liquid secured a 2:1 victory against Heroic in their first match of the day, feeling prepared with a draft plan and accurate expectations of their opponents. Neta highlighted the team's comfort with their dynamics, emphasizing the balance of each player's abilities and strengths.

Known for his mechanical and micro abilities, Neta feels comfortable translating these skills into his role as captain. He prioritizes natural leadership, avoiding dictating the game single-handedly and recognizing the collaborative nature of Dota 2.

Despite their confidence, Team Liquid's elimination by the Falcons was a bitter disappointment, with 33 acknowledging that they failed to perform at their best. He attributed part of their discomfort to ESL's venue and game management, citing long hours on-site, inadequate practice facilities, and lack of privacy due to proximity to opponents.

Neta emphasized the importance of better arrangements for players' well-being and performance in future tournaments. He suggested closer proximity between hotels and venues and the provision of comfortable resting areas. While acknowledging the challenges faced by ESL, he hoped his feedback would contribute to improved experiences for teams in future events.
