Ember Spirit
- Aspect – Double Impact: The ability Sleight of Fist now adds a second attack on one of the targets.
Ember Spirit is the undisputed top mid-hero in the game. With a win rate of 56% across 5,000 matches at +8000 MMR, he outshines all other mid-heroes!
The build is now classic: Maelstrom upgraded to Gleipnir. This Ember clears jungle camps, pushes lanes, applies debuffs in fights, deals with supports, and defends mid almost endlessly.
Primal Beast
- Aspect – Romp N’ Stomp: The ability Trample passively increases movement speed and grants an additional bonus to both the owner and allies when used.
While many overpowered heroes are being systematically fixed, Primal Beast remains largely unaffected. Competitors have become noticeably weaker, and Primal Beast is back to dominating the battlefield!
Primal Beast excels in the laning phase: he positions himself among creeps, clears camps, and farms simultaneously. He boasts a lot of armor and damage from Uproar, BKB control, and excellent mobility. Most importantly, he can start securing kills from level 4.
If the mid-lane becomes tough, there’s no need to stay there. After the 3-4 minute mark, Primal Beast can easily gank lanes, recover gold, and continue to terrorise enemies.
Lina
- Aspect – Thermal Runaway: Using Laguna Blade grants the owner effects from Fiery Soul.
Like Primal Beast, Lina has improved compared to others, without receiving any nerfs.
Most players use a physical Lina build: Gleipnir, Dragon Lance, Black King Bar, Daedalus, and Satanic. Lina functions well as a secondary carry when paired with a non-greedy off-laner. Lina’s long attack range, decent damage, and multiple nukes for rune control and ranged enemies make it hard to lose mid-lane. You will definitely accumulate wealth!
Magic Lina is seen less frequently. The reason is that her impact is limited to killing one hero, leading to lower damage output afterwards. Fans of one-shot builds opt for Linken's Sphere, Aghanim's Scepter, and Ethereal Blade.
Queen of Pain
- Aspect – Masochist: Provides a bonus to spell damage but inflicts a portion of the damage dealt to enemies on the owner.
Love using Dagon as your first item? Queen of Pain in 7.37 is perfect for you! To compensate for the returned damage, players often get a fifth Dagon. This gives massive damage, more survivability, and endless fun. Otherwise, Queen of Pain remains the same: roaming the map, killing supports, breaking enemy positions in fights, and being as annoying as possible.
One change – don’t max Shadow Strike or even pick it up at the start. The dart no longer heals the owner, making it unnecessary. Also, without maxed Scream of Pain, farming is tougher. Many players now take Shadow Strike only at level 10!
Rubick
- Aspect – Arcane Accumulation: Using the ability grants a temporary bonus to spell range.
On one hand, Rubick is a fun and adventurous pick; on the other, it fits the meta perfectly.
Due to his innate ability to amplify spell damage, Rubick excels in the laning phase. By using Fade Bolt, he can deal significant damage with auto-attacks, often outperforming heroes like Queen of Pain, SF, or Invoker. With Aether Lens, Rubick can exploit his numerous spellcasting abilities.
Rubick is often picked late in the draft, when it’s clear how well he fits into the lineup. It’s unlikely you’ll face only passive heroes. If there are strong nukes available for fighting or farming, definitely try Rubick in mid!
