BetBoom's Head of Esports: "Teams are more than capable of surviving without betting sponsors."

Artyom Saveliev, Head of Esports at BetBoom, admitted that Dota 2 teams can survive without a bookmaker as a partner. In his opinion, organizations can endure without such support, but they will then have to expend more effort on various preparations.

"I believe that teams are more than capable of surviving without betting sponsors. Take Dota 2, for example: in recent years, there have been many stacks that formed on their own and sought sponsorship, played DPC seasons, but lacked strong support.

I would say that teams with funding and strong partners have more opportunities to be efficient in terms of preparation, relieving themselves of unnecessary headaches.

For instance, when a team qualifies for an international tournament, they need to fly there, and possibly arrange a boot camp, meals, and flights in advance. Many nuances can be managed on a budget, but sometimes you need to invest more to make yourself more comfortable." - Artyom Saveliev

Saveliev cited the BetBoom Team's preparation for The International 2023 as an example. The organization sent players to the USA a week before the tournament started so they could fully acclimatize before the important event.

"When BetBoom Team flew to Seattle, they went there a week, maybe a bit more, in advance. To acclimatize, adjust to the time zone, and so on. Organizers won't take you there in advance like that – only strictly for the tournament. And if you want to mentally prepare yourself, you have to do it at your own expense. And the question arises: do you have the money for it or not?

We were interested in ensuring that the team had all the conditions to perform as successfully as possible. We tried to address all the issues and focus the guys' attention on the training process and the tournament. Everything we could give them, we did. It's not a cheap endeavor. I guess that's the difference. You can generally survive without sponsors, but it's tough." - Artyom Saveliev

On April 16, BetBoom announced a partnership with Team Spirit. The parties plan to engage in deep cooperation between their esports media assets.
