Allen 'Bonkers' Cook, manager and interim coach of OG, discussed his role as coach and the team's progress during Elite League Season 2 in an interview following their victory over Execration.
On his role as coach:Cook mentioned that he often feels confused in this role, as he is primarily involved in analytics, preparation, and other tasks. He suggested that calling him a coach might not be entirely accurate.
Regarding Wisper's praise, where he said that Cook provides the team with great ideas and does a lot for the roster, Cook appreciated the compliment and acknowledged that this is the minimum the team needs and expects from him.
On the team's progress during the tournament:Cook noted that they finished the first day with a 4-0 score in maps, indicating a strong start. He attributed their progress to improved communication, particularly highlighting kaori, who is standing in for Ceb. Cook observed that kaori is spending more time with the team, fitting in well, and finding the games easier.
Cook mentioned that their progress during the tournament might be minimal, as they set a high standard from day one. The team atmosphere has improved, with efforts to reduce seriousness and enjoy the tournament more. He emphasised that shifting from a default serious mindset to enjoying the event is challenging but essential.
After the fourth day of the group stage, OG secured the top spot in the standings and will start the playoffs from the semi-finals of the upper bracket.
