Cap about comparisons of Dota in the past and now

Commentators Avery "SVG" Silverman and Austin "Capitalist" Walsh discussed the current state of the Dota 2 professional scene and the game itself during the "Not For Broadcast" podcast.

SVG noted that with teams like MENA's Team Falcons, Gaimin Gladiators, Team Liquid, BetBoom Team, and Team Spirit dominating almost every event and amassing numerous victories, all from the same region, it raises the question of whom to support and why. He mentioned sometimes rooting for Quinn because of their connection but pointed out that Team Spirit stands out a bit due to their inconsistency, sometimes performing poorly in tournaments, which he found puzzling.

Capitalist agreed, adding that Team Spirit's playstyle is enjoyable to watch and that their inconsistent performances make their journey interesting. He compared this to the appeal of OG, where fans know they are champions but aren’t consistently at the top, making their matches unpredictable yet hopeful.

SVG felt that this unpredictability is what makes these teams interesting to follow, while others lack this intrigue. He also commented that China's scene is too weak to compete with Europe, and other regions are virtually inactive, diminishing the excitement of watching tournaments.

Capitalist observed that while some players reminisce, he doesn’t believe the game was more fun back then. He suggested that this sentiment is more about nostalgia, with people not critically assessing that the game wasn’t necessarily better, but rather they were different as individuals.

SVG believed the game is in a good place, praising Valve for their timely balance patches. He mentioned that although the situation with the Ringmaster is unclear, he never cared much about new heroes anyway.

Previously, SVG commented on 1win's prospects and shared his thoughts on Team Liquid's victory at Elite League Season 2.
