ESL One Bangkok 2024: A Look at the Teams and Transfers

The ESL One Bangkok 2024, set to begin on December 9 in Thailand, promises to be one of the most exciting esports events of the year. With 12 teams competing for a prize pool of $1 million and 20,940 EPT points, viewers will be drawn not only to the matches but also to the players' stories, their paths to the tournament, and the internal dramas that have shaped the event.

ATF Reveals Details of the Failed Negotiations with Quest

Ammaar "ATF" Al-Assaf, who recently returned to active play after a break, shared the details of his unsuccessful transfer to Quest Esports in 2023, which led to his absence from significant tournaments such as Riyadh Masters 2023 and The International 2023. In a podcast with Austin "Capitalist" Walsh, ATF revealed how his selection to the team and even his qualification successes were put in jeopardy when the organisation insisted on a long-term contract. Despite an offer from Nigma, which would have satisfied all parties, Quest insisted on their terms, which were unacceptable to ATF. As a result, a stand-in was brought in, and ATF missed two of the most important tournaments of the year.

Casters Evaluate Teams at ESL One Bangkok 2024

Caster Vladimir 'Maelstorm' Kuzminov shared his predictions for several teams participating in ESL One Bangkok 2024. He noted that Team Falcons remain the favourites of the tournament. The team has shown consistent results with no major failures, although their style still relies heavily on individual player performances. Meanwhile, BOOM Esports from the Philippines, according to Maelstorm, will likely not make it past the group stage, despite their qualification, as the team has not yet proven itself at a high level.

Shopify Rebellion from North America is a unique mix, blending youth and experience. Maelstorm suggests their potential doesn’t quite reach a top-8 finish, especially given their lack of experience in major tournaments, but they could still surprise if they perform well.

On the other hand, Team Liquid from Sweden is one of the major favourites of the tournament, thanks to their strong coaching staff and well-thought-out strategy. Maelstorm believes that with their new roster, including a powerful trio, this team should be among the best in the world—if they aren’t already.

Expectations for ESL One Bangkok 2024

From December 9 to 15, ESL One Bangkok 2024 will be the stage for some of the best teams in the world, all battling for the prestigious title and a substantial $1 million prize pool. Along with the established teams, there will be fresh faces and debutants, including Satanic from Team Spirit, who will be making his LAN debut at this tournament. The event is expected to bring many surprises, both on and off the stage.
