Gunina, Maelstorm, and Others on OG's Elimination from TI13 Qualifiers
On June 22, OG was eliminated from the closed qualifiers for The International 2024 (TI13) in Dota 2 after losing to NAVI Junior. Various figures in the Dota 2 community, including Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov and Maria "Inverno" Gunina, shared their thoughts on OG's performance in the qualifiers and the surrounding circumstances.
Kuzminov and Gunina reflected on the birth of Sébastien "Ceb" Debs' child, which led to him missing the match against Entity Gaming.
"Ceb thought he had one son, but it turns out he had at least four more," quipped Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov.
"I don't understand the fuss around Ceb's situation. Welcome to esports. In high-level sports, people miss weddings, funerals, and childbirth. Another question is: ‘Why do these situations always seem to happen with OG? Why is it that in four out of five incidents where the team demands special attention and exceptions to the rules, Ceb is involved?’ " commented Maria "Inverno" Gunina.
Caster Daria "Eiritel" Morozova made a joke about OG, referencing the club's statement on possible disqualification following Ceb's substitution.
"OG decided to disqualify themselves," joked Daria "Eiritel" Morozova.
Streamer and commentator Alexey "Storm" Tumanov highlighted specific players from the match, praising the Ukrainian team and criticizing Wisper and bzm.
"NAVI Junior—great job. Bzm and Wisper—unbelievably bad," mentioned Alexey "Storm" Tumanov.
Teams Heroic and Ninjas in Pyjamas showed their support for OG, posting heart emojis on X.
OG will miss their second consecutive World Championship. In 2023, the club finished 5th-6th in the regional qualifiers for TI12 for Western Europe.
