Is There a Dota 2 Mobile?

Short answer: No. Long answer: Well, Steam makes it possible if you’re willing to play an even harder version of the game.

Dota 2 is a game based on micro-mechanics, which that makes it one of the hardest MOBAs to master. This genre was, for a long time, considered only playable with a mouse and keyboard as controllers. However, after League of Legends' successful mobile port, called Wild Rift, players wondered if there would be a Dota 2 Mobile version too.

Now, there are a lot of mobile MOBA games out there, but all of them are closer to LoL than Dota. As of today, Valve has no plans to release a mobile spin-off for their game. Despite that, there’s still a way to play Dota 2 as a mobile version, and it’s all thanks to the now-discontinued Steam Controller and the Steam Link.

How to Play Dota 2 on Your Phone

I can't believe you want to do this for real. The first thing you need is the Steam Link app, which you can find for Android or iOS. Pair it with your PC, and remember, this is a hard game with a lot of information on the screen. Thus, you may want to pair a controller too. Make sure your controller is compatible with your phone via Bluetooth.

But if you are completely psycho enough to play the mobile version of Dota 2 using the touch controllers, don’t forget to add the wheel that will let you move. Also, add every extra controller you can, as all of them will cover different aspects of the game.

To add buttons to your screen, click the cursor in the upper-left corner of your Dota 2 mobile game. There, you'll be able to drag extra buttons.

If you feel the controllers are not working as intended, try adding the following line to the "Launch options" section in the game's properties:

Alternatives to Dota 2 on Mobile Platforms

Let’s be honest, this Dota 2 Mobile version is not ready for smartphones. It's already uncomfortable to play on the Steam Deck itself, the intended console for this version. That said, you can still experience a MOBA experience crafted specifically for smartphones. These are some of the most popular alternatives:

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang: One of the most popular MOBAs for smartphones, with some extra objectives on the map (compared to Dota 2) that will help end the games fast.

Honor of Kings: Recently had a global release, but is a pretty well-known mobile MOBA, especially in Asia. Very welcoming game for newcomers.
