"It's Very Hard to Grow," VooDooSh on Streaming on Twitch

Content creator Alexander "VooDooSh" Shalchinov shared his thoughts on the challenges of streaming worldwide. According to him, it's currently quite difficult for newcomers to build a career in the industry.

"Streaming is going through a tough period right now," said VooDooSh. "The COVID-19 effect has passed, and it's summer—there's a decline in viewership. Essentially, Twitch is no longer accessible in Russia. It’s a very challenging time, but top streamers are still doing well. It’s very hard to grow. On the other hand, if you’re motivated, you can still give it a shot," explained Alexander "VooDooSh" Shalchinov.

VooDooSh pointed out the drastic decline in viewership. "Take Western content creators as an example: Ninja's streams attract around 7,000 viewers, and QueenXtine has low numbers too. Nowadays, having 4,000 concurrent viewers is considered a lot. If you have that many, you’re an 'old god'—but not in Dota"

Previously, Shalchinov talked about the early days of esports competitions in Dota. He witnessed the era of tournaments held in internet cafes. You can read all the details here.

On May 26, 2024, VooDooSh won a poker event hosted by BetBoom, earning $24,700 in prize money for first place. Other participants included commentator Rustam "Adekvat" Mavlyutov, blogger Alexander Zubarev, comedian Nurlan Saburov, and other media personalities.
