On April 24, at 11:27 AM, Team Spirit's midlaner Denis "Larl" Sigitov pondered about the lengthy matches at ESL One Birmingham 2024 for Dota 2. While his teammates enjoy such games, he prefers a more dynamic style.
"It's been a very tough day; we're extremely exhausted because we've played excessively long and challenging matches. Such games are just dreadful. <...>
I think it's beneficial for our team that we can farm longer. My teammates enjoy farming a lot of creeps, and we often draft heroes for the late game. Therefore, we managed to reach our power spike in the late game. But I dislike long games. I prefer an aggressive style with killing opponents and faster-paced maps. However, in this patch, farming is essential. If you accidentally go somewhere and die, the game becomes very difficult. <...>
It's awful how we play out games, so all maps reach the late game. In my opinion, we could win more easily and finish games much earlier. But each of us makes a ton of silly mistakes, which makes the matches so challenging. By terrible games, I mean our gameplay and how we reach our power spike. We often lead in net worth and can kill opponents, but we poorly choose the location for fights and make other wrong decisions. For me, it's dreadful." - Denis "Larl" Sigitov
Spirit has earned four draws over two game days and holds a 4-4 record in Group B's standings. Next, the lineup will face OG. The match will begin at 16:45 MSK on April 24. In case of victory, Sigitov's team will secure a spot in the playoffs.
ESL One Birmingham 2024 is taking place from April 22 to April 28 in the United Kingdom. Twelve teams are battling for a million dollars and EPT ranking points, required for qualification in the Riyadh Masters 2024. BetBoom Team is also representing Eastern Europe in the tournament.
