Maelstorm about the Esports World Cup “They’re just wasting a lot of money”

Dota 2 commentator Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov discussed the Esports World Cup Foundation partnership program for clubs. He believes that some of the funds will simply be spent without any visible benefit.

"In this picture, you see 30 clubs that will receive additional funding from EWC. It's still unclear how this will turn out, as the wording is extremely vague. EWC will provide the money, and the clubs will develop esports and promote the cup. For example, Virtus.pro has already gathered numerous rosters. What the remaining half of the clubs have done, I have no idea. There were many applications, but only thirty were chosen. Understandably, there were plenty of eager parties looking to cash in. I sense that a lot of money will simply go to waste, but what useful outcomes will emerge is more intriguing." - Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov

On May 6, organizers of the Esports World Cup announced the participants of the special club program. Partners will be able to receive six-figure sums as part of the funding for participation in top-tier tournaments. More details about this can be found on our website.

The competition will feature 19 events in various disciplines, including Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege. The total prize pool of the event will exceed $60 million, including $20 million for the club competition.
