Commentator Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov shared his opinion on Virtus.pro's form in the opening matches of Riyadh Masters 2024 in Dota 2. He believes the team heavily relies on Ilya "squad1x" Kuvaldin's performance.
"VP is a team dependent on squad1x, from whom almost everything depends. His performance sets the tone of the game. VP also has interesting drafts: still rating Alchemist and playing well with him. However, there's a lack of stability, and playing as the lead often backfires. For example, the first map against LGD, which VP led and could easily have taken," Kuzminov expressed.
"The group VP is in is very tight. It's quite possible that the difference between advancing to the second group directly and being eliminated will come down to just a couple of mistakes. I'd say a 2-2 result is decent, and they've taken points from not the weakest teams. The second day will give a full understanding of the situation, but it likely won't answer all questions," Kuzminov added.
Virtus.pro stands at 2-2 in maps and still has a chance to advance to the main stage of the tournament. As of the news publication, the team is playing against G2.iG with a current match score of 0:1. To qualify for the group stage, they need to finish in the top 3 of Group A.
