Mira Discusses the Reasons Behind Team Spirit’s Slump in Early 2024

Team Spirit’s support player, Miroslav “Mira” Kolpakov, shared insights on the team’s struggles at the beginning of 2024. According to Mira, the team faced issues with their understanding of the game and individual performance.

"Our loss at the 1WIN tournament was a clear indication of our form," Mira explained. "If you can’t win a small event or a qualifier, it means there are problems with your game comprehension or each player’s form. That was exactly the case for us. At that time, it was hard to pinpoint what was going wrong. We just couldn’t secure wins. Our communication was lacking, there were numerous mistakes in micro plays and a lot of unnecessary deaths. We weren’t focused, myself included. Our minds weren't working at 100%. We played very poorly."

Reflecting on the lead-up to ESL One Birmingham 2024, Mira recounted how the team made a conscious effort to regroup. "Before ESL One Birmingham 2024, we decided that everyone needed to pull themselves together. It was a crucial tournament. Leading up to it, we practiced a lot, winning 22 scrims in a row. Everything seemed to be going well, and we were heading to the tournament fully charged. Perhaps, we didn’t play against the strongest opponents. However, during the tiebreakers, things started to unravel. It was probably our worst day in six months. It was incredibly tough," reflected Miroslav “Mira” Kolpakov.

Mira's reflections highlight the volatility in esports performance and the mental fortitude required to overcome slumps.

Team Spirit concluded the group stage of ESL One Birmingham 2024 with five draws. Unfortunately, in the tiebreakers, they failed to win any match and were eliminated from the tournament. Despite this setback, they bounced back to claim victory at PGL Wallachia Season 1.
