New generation of talented players from Eastern Europe

In the latest episode of the We Say Things podcast, casters Shannon 'SUNSfan' Scott and Troels 'syndereN' Nielsen discussed the outcomes of Elite League Season 2 and Clavision: Snow Ruyi.

On the Elite League Season 2 Grand Final:

SyndereN noted that Team Liquid had lost ten consecutive grand finals before facing 1win, who had convincingly defeated them 2:0 in the upper bracket. The grand final saw the initiative switch hands in every game. Liquid won the first game, 1win took the second, Liquid won the third, 1win the fourth, and then Liquid finally secured the victory. It seemed that avoiding facing the Gaimin Gladiators could have been crucial, as they might have accounted for a significant portion of Liquid's grand final losses. However, 1win truly made them work hard for it.

SUNSfan pointed out that Liquid was without Blitz for the first time, which might have impacted their performance. He also noted that the competition at this tournament was notably less intense compared to others.

SyndereN agreed that a win is a win and commended the team for their hard work in clinching the victory at the LAN event.

On 1win:

SyndereN mentioned that 1win defeated Liquid 2:0 in the upper bracket. He recalled that the team missed a tournament due to visa delays, which prevented them from showcasing their potential. Although they qualified, they were replaced by OG. He observed that 1win consistently performs well at every tournament, highlighting their promising new generation of Eastern European talent.

On MENA Nigma Galaxy's Performance at Clavision: Snow Ruyi:

SyndereN noted that MENA Nigma Galaxy defeated Natus Vincere 2:0, securing a top-three finish. He felt that this achievement was reminiscent of performances from three or four years ago.

SUNSfan questioned if MENA Nigma Galaxy had ever placed in the top three before, suggesting that this might be an unusual or disappointing result based on recent history.

SyndereN explained that for this tournament, OneJey from Belarus replaced KuroKy from Germany, and Ghost from Malaysia played in the carry role. This change seemed to work well, and he argued that MENA Nigma Galaxy tends to perform better at LAN events compared to online play.

On Xtreme Gaming's Victory at Clavision: Snow Ruyi:

SyndereN highlighted that Xtreme Gaming won their home tournament, finishing ahead of Team Spirit, MENA Nigma Galaxy, and Natus Vincere. This victory added another success to their year, and it was seen as a positive sign as they approached TI in less than a month. The timing is perfect for them to build momentum, and they have shown impressive form.

On August 4th, two LAN tournaments concluded: Clavision: Snow Ruyi and Elite League Season 2. Xtreme Gaming won the former, while Team Liquid took the latter.
