Nix Talks About Personal Burnout
Dota 2 streamer Alexander "Nix" Levin considered going to a monastery due to burnout from his activities. Levin shared his thoughts on KD CAST's YouTube channel.
Interviewer: I heard you couldn't stream Dota anymore. What happened?
Levin: I couldn’t stream Dota anymore. I was extremely nauseous and going crazy.
Interviewer: Where do you see yourself going in the future?
Levin: I haven’t figured it out yet. I realized that I still love streaming. I would continue doing it. But when thinking about where to go, one answer in my head was the monastery.
Interviewer: A monastery? Can you tell me more about that?
Levin: I was so tired and burned out that I just wanted to go to a monastery, where a bald Asian guy would tell me: "Sweep the floor." He would give me some wisdom once a month, and I would be delighted.
Interviewer: Do you want to become Doctor Strange or something?
Levin: Just so everything would be taken away from me, and I’d be given only underwear and a broom. I would live somewhere on a mountain. These are internal desires, as I was very burned out.
In April 2024, Nix mentioned the possibility of quitting Dota 2 forever. Later, he added that he wasn’t tired of streaming, only Dota.
Nix is covering Riyadh Masters 2024 as a community streamer. The championship runs from July 4 to 21 on LAN in Saudi Arabia, with teams from around the world competing for $5 million.
