NS: "Who in 2024 goes to Twitch just to watch someone play Dota?"

Community caster Yaroslav 'NS' Kuznetsov expressed his view that viewers lack interest in Dota 2 streams unless they feature entertaining or educational content.

He commented that while Dota 2 is a great game, viewers are unlikely to tune into Twitch merely to watch someone play the game without any added value. He suggested that the interest in watching casual gameplay has dwindled significantly. According to Kuznetsov, audiences are no longer engaged unless the stream includes humorous or educational elements, such as commentary on patch updates or in-game strategies. He argued that simply watching players, even professional ones, is no longer compelling to viewers.

Previously, Kuznetsov estimated that the passive audience for Dota 2 could exceed 100 million people worldwide. Additionally, former player Alexey 'Solo' Berezin had remarked on his stream’s 7,000-viewer count, suggesting that a much larger audience, around 70,000, is more desirable.
