OG: A New Era After Ceb’s Departure and BLAST Slam I Results
OG, the legendary Dota 2 team, has undergone significant changes following the departure of Sébastien "Ceb" Debs. Team member Matthew "Ari" Walker shared insights on how the roster has evolved in an interview published on the official Blast.tv website.
The Team After Ceb’s Departure
“The key difference in the new roster is the absence of Ceb,” Ari admitted. “After he left, Nine [Leon ‘Nine’ Kirilin] and I had to step up as leaders. This was a challenge for the whole team, but also an excellent opportunity to reach a new level. We’ve become more focused on improving our gameplay.”
Ari also highlighted the impact of Kevin "KheZu" Gyömer joining as the team’s coach: “His fresh perspective, drafting experience, and problem-solving abilities are crucial. This gives us the chance to unlock our full potential.”
Lessons from Ceb
According to Ari, Sébastien left an indelible mark on the team: “He believed in an aggressive playstyle, always applying pressure on the opponent. He taught us to trust each other completely and to be ready to make an impact, even in the toughest moments.”
BLAST Slam I: New Challenges for OG
Despite the changes in the roster and the new leadership dynamics, OG has yet to achieve the desired results. At the BLAST Slam I tournament, held from 26 November to 1 December in Copenhagen, OG finished in 9th-10th place, exiting the competition in the Round of 16.
The team lost to Team Falcons in a tight 1-2 series. While OG put up a strong fight, they ultimately fell short. Team Falcons advanced to the next round, where they faced Gaimin Gladiators.
Despite the early exit, OG earned $30,000 in prize money. The tournament was ultimately won by BetBoom Team, who delivered outstanding performances and secured the grand prize.
Disappointment without Ceb
Ceb’s departure has marked a turning point for OG, forcing the team to rebuild its leadership and strategy while adapting to new challenges. Although BLAST Slam I ended in disappointment for OG, the players remain confident in the roster's immense potential. With more tournaments ahead, the team is determined to work hard and reclaim their place at the pinnacle of the professional Dota 2 scene.
