Olympic foil fencer also plays Dota

Filipino fencer Maxine Esteban, who represented Côte d'Ivoire in the individual foil event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, holds the Titan rank in Dota 2. ABS-CBN News published an interview with the athlete, where she discussed her passion for the game.

Esteban revealed that she began playing Dota 2 during the pandemic, a hobby she picked up from her father, who also plays the game. She described it as a family activity that brings them closer, often playing until 5 a.m. Some of her happiest memories are from these gaming sessions. Even while training in Germany, Esteban and her family would play Dota 2 whenever they had free time.

In terms of her favourite roles and heroes, Esteban mentioned that she prefers playing as a mid or support. Her favourite heroes are Windranger, Witch Doctor, and Ogre Magi.

Maxine Esteban was defeated 7-15 by French fencer Pauline Ranvier in the round of 16 in the women's foil event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
