Russian-Speaking Commentators Will Not Attend TI13

Commentator Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov shared his thoughts on the coverage of The International 2024 for Dota 2, noting several changes this year.

"These news items matter only to commentators. I think their importance to us (on-camera workers) is much greater than for you, but here’s what Valve announced today:

1. There will be no commentators (except in English) on-site at The International; studios will work remotely. There is an option to send a reporter.

2. On-camera workers will be selected by the broadcasting studio, not by Valve (goodbye to mixed teams from different studios at TI?).

3. The entire TI may be broadcast on the studio's channel.

You probably don't care much about this, but I’ve been asked: ‘Who will go? Who will comment?’ So here are some answers...

As you noticed, there are at least two critical drawbacks:

1. You can't invite any players, coaches, or managers from the tournament to the studio.

2. There's no crowd sound, although this can theoretically be managed.

The first drawback is incredibly critical because it significantly boosts any broadcast," said Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov.

On the night of June 8, Valve opened applications for covering TI13 in Russian, Spanish, and Chinese. Applications must be submitted by June 15. More details can be found on our website.

The International 2024 will take place from September 4 to 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The prize pool for the world championship will be announced later. Representing Eastern Europe at the tournament will be the BetBoom Team, Team Spirit, and the winner of the regional qualifiers. In 2023, the event was covered in Russian by FISSURE Studio.
