BetBoom Team's support player Vitaliy "Save-" Melnik reviewed their performance at PGL Wallachia Season 1 in Dota 2. He highlighted the significant impact of not having Anatoly "Boo1k" Ivanov present but also pointed out other issues.
"The tournament was very well organized, but we struggled without Tolyan [Boo1k]. <...> We went to the tournament without our coach, who was responsible for the whole process, so it was obviously different. We tried to manage things ourselves. Sometimes it went okay, and sometimes it didn't. His absence was clearly felt. I think our drafts weren't that bad. Many games could have been won, but we just played very poorly. <...>
We just lack something to make decisions in tough situations. If people aren't playing with full focus, this will keep happening. I wouldn't say a patch will fix this problem. What happens to us depends on each player. It's important how we work on ourselves for Riyadh Masters and TI13 to have a chance at high placements. It's clear you can get lucky and place high if the patch suits you, but that doesn't matter in the long run if you play poorly.
[Why do we always have these problems in group stages?] We just don't properly evaluate the importance of each game. Every map in the group stage is very important, but sometimes we have a mindset that... Obviously, we prepare for each game, but very often we lose maps senselessly, even though we shouldn't. It's unacceptable.
We openly discuss our problems and flame each other. Of course, we don't cross the line. Everyone understands that our goal is to win the tournament, and other places don't matter. We are grateful to our fans for their support, even though we can't win any tournaments. We strive for top-1 because everything else is meaningless to us.
Will we ever achieve it? I don't know. Obviously, I believe in it, otherwise, I wouldn't be here. We may succeed if everything falls into place, but we haven't yet. Everyone on the team just needs to get better if we want to win something." - Vitaliy "Save-" Melnik.
BetBoom Team was eliminated from PGL Wallachia Season 1 after the group stage, losing to G2.iG in the playoff qualification match with a score of 1:2. Save-'s team finished in 9-10th place, earning $20,000.
