Sayuw Explains Why He Dislikes Large Patches in Dota 2
9Pandas' support player Oleg "sayuw" Kalenbet expressed his preference against Valve releasing major updates for Dota 2. Instead, he favors the gradual introduction of new mechanics and features.
"To be honest, I'm not a fan of new patches," said Sayuw. "Constantly having to adapt and get used to new realities isn't my thing. In this regard, I'm like an old grandpa—I prefer playing on the same patch for a long time. Sure, certain aspects or heroes might be annoying, but I’m not in favor of massive updates"
"If developers made small, incremental changes to hero balance, the map, and the economy, I'd find that much better," he continued. "However, I did enjoy patch 7.36 overall. The map didn't change, and the mechanics remained mostly the same. They introduced Aspects and innate abilities for heroes, which is cool because it allows for diverse playstyles with the same characters in both public matches and professional games. Some heroes, like Tinker, were practically 'removed' from the game. Previously, it was frustrating when someone would last-pick Tinker with a 30-level Dota Plus in matchmaking—it made the game unbearable. Of course, now we have other overpowered heroes," said Oleg "sayuw" Kalenbet.
Earlier, Kalenbet commented on patch 7.36, describing it as "fun" and expressed a desire for Valve to change Roshan's location.
9Pandas will compete in the Eastern European closed qualifiers for The International 2024. Their first match is against Virtus.pro, scheduled for June 14 at 10:00 AM MSK. These and other teams will vie for one spot in the main event of the world championship.
