Spotlight: ESL One Bangkok 2024 and Heated Player Discussions
ESL One Bangkok 2024, taking place from 9 to 15 December in Thailand's capital, has become a stage not only for intense matches but also for headline-grabbing player statements. With a total prize pool of one million dollars and 12 competing teams, the tournament promises unforgettable moments for fans.
Samuel "Boxi" Svahn on Team Liquid's Performance
Team Liquid support player Samuel "Boxi" Svahn shared his thoughts on his team's start to the tournament. According to Boxi, the team has struggled to find their rhythm:
"I think we need to warm up and figure out what works and what doesn’t. We aren’t as rigid in our strategies as other teams, which might be beneficial later in the tournament but could be a weakness early on if our ideas aren’t the best. We’ll see."
Pavel "9pasha" Khvastunov on Skiter
Former professional Dota 2 player Pavel "9pasha" Khvastunov offered his candid opinion on Team Falcons carry Oliver "Skiter" Lepko, sparking debate within the community:
"When people say, ‘Why are you criticising Skiter? He plays fine,’ I genuinely want to see that fine gameplay. But in every game, at least a couple of times, there’s such [nonsense]. Everyone makes mistakes, but his errors reek of stupidity."
Skiter has often been the target of criticism. Streamer Alexander "Nix" Levin frequently comments on his gameplay errors, to which Skiter reportedly responded through his Russian-speaking teammates, further fuelling the dialogue with commentators.
Timado on Hellscream
Enzo "Timado" Gianoli, the carry for North American team Shopify Rebellion, praised his teammate Kirill "Hellscream" Lagutko for his calm and composed demeanour. Timado even likened him to the legendary Cr1t-:
"Hellscream is incredibly resilient. We always joke that he’s very similar to Cr1t- – ice-cold under pressure."
