SyndereN on Taiga: "I sincerely believe he was a good guy who found himself in a bad situation."

Commentator, streamer, and former professional player from Denmark, Troels Lyngholt "syndereN" Nielsen, in a recent episode of the "We Say Things" podcast, spoke about the scandal involving Tommy "Taiga" Le from Norway.

"I think there's a really important takeaway from this whole story, which I hope people will understand. Taiga has always evoked positive emotions in me as a person, and I sincerely believe he was a good guy who found himself in a bad situation and struggled to fix it. It shows how dangerous addiction can become, whether it's alcohol or gambling, as in this case.

Many people consider gambling to be the worst addiction because it completely takes over your life. I'm not here to judge which is worse. I want people to understand that it's not about a specific individual. It can happen to anyone, even successful people. This guy won a major, he was one of the best players in his role. Achieving such results requires being a very good player. But he found himself in a bad situation and couldn't get out of it. Very successful people in their field, with everything ahead of them, can lose everything in about a year. He got involved in gambling in October 2022. According to him, he lost everything he had in a year. It's damn scary. If you can't control yourself, or maintain some balance, it's very frightening.

It's one thing to have problems with gambling and losses, but it's even worse if you get involved with the '322 mafia,' as they call it. A group of people who organize fixed matches and influence players to make them lose games. I believe most of them operate outside Eastern Europe. It's a bad cocktail. It sucks.

I hope things work out for Taiga. I say this even though this situation is very sad and negatively affects the integrity of competitions.” - Troels Lyngholt "syndereN" Nielsen

Earlier, a member of the Argentine esports club World Leviatán and former player for OG, gave his first comment after the investigation into his involvement in match-fixing was released."
