Team Liquid: Triumphs, and Respect for Rivals at ESL One Bangkok 2024
Western European team Team Liquid finished as runners-up at ESL One Bangkok 2024. Their journey to the grand final was marked by key victories, genuine remarks about their opponents, and reflections on their motivation following their success at The International.
After defeating the Russian Team Spirit in the lower bracket, Team Liquid support player Aydin "iNSaNiA" Sarkohi shared his admiration for their rivals:
"I have great respect for Team Spirit and what they’ve achieved after losing three players. It’s always a pleasure to play against them, and beating them is proof that we’re heading in the right direction."
Fellow teammate Samuel "Boxi" Svahn commented on the team's mindset following their TI victory:
"I don’t think we’ve lost our motivation after winning TI. Perhaps in the first couple of months after and even now , we don’t feel the same passion that immediately drives you to go all out and win. After all, winning TI and another smaller tournament is a big difference."
Team Liquid’s head coach William "Blitz" Lee highlighted the strength of their grand final opponents, PARIVISION, and praised the performance of Volodymyr "No[o]ne" Minenko:
"I think they are a very talented team that peaked at just the right time. No[o]ne is probably one of the best in the world right now. He’s an incredible player. What a career he’s had! He was among the best of the best, then made his way back to the top again. I’m really looking forward to the grand final. I think it’s a great opportunity for both them and us."
Team Liquid concluded the group stage in the final qualifying position but ultimately secured third place, showcasing resilience and determination throughout the tournament.
